Film Experience -
Begining in early 2007 Murphy joined on staff as Visual Effects Supervisor for ImageMovers Digital and is currently working on the all digital Robert Zemeckis/Disney film, A Christmas Carol.
Most recently, before joining ImageMovers Digital, Murphy had been working in New Zealand as the Visual Effects Supervisor for Weta Digital's work on the film Eragon. This assignment was a direct result of Murphy's successful 2005 collaboration with Weta on Peter Jackson's ambitious King Kong project, where Murphy took on the task of Visual Effects Supervising several major sequences. Prior to that, he was the Sr. Visual Effects Supervisor for ESC Entertainment's work on Warner Bros. 2005 film Constantine, starring Keanu Reeves. Murphy also worked as ESC's Sr. Visual Effects Supervisor for the complex "Zion Dock" sequences in the Warner Bros. films Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions.
Prior to joining ESC Entertainment, Murphy established technical expertise and a reputation for high visual standards through a decade of feature and commercial work with the industry icon, Industrial Light & Magic (ILM). During that time Murphy won an Oscar for his work on the ground breaking film Forrest Gump; and in 1999 swept the Clio's Visual Effects category as the Visual Effects Supervisor on the Gold, Silver and Bronze winning commercials.
Before joining ILM, Murphy had already established a reputation as one of the country's leading digital effects artist through his staff work at San Francisco video post houses Western Images, and Varitel Video.
